Modern forensic hub Faculty of Law and Economics
On the initiative and with the support of the President of the International Humanitarian University, Academician Serhiy Kivalov, a modern Forensic Hub has been opened at the Faculty of Law and Economics. The hub is designed for conducting practical classes with higher education applicants at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in the specialties “Law Enforcement” and “Law” in such mandatory educational components as “Forensics,” “Criminal Law,” “Criminal Procedure,” “Criminology,” “Operative and Investigative Activities,” and “Tactical-Special and Firearms Training.” This exciting event reflects a progressive approach to education and research in the field of forensics.
The Forensic Hub is equipped with modern multimedia technology and software, allowing for comprehensive training on conducting urgent investigative actions with the use of 3-D crime scene simulations. A wide range of modern forensic equipment helps students acquire practical skills in detecting, documenting, and collecting the main and most procedurally significant types of physical evidence. Thanks to the use of the software product “Investigator’s Workplace,” students refine their skills in preparing criminal procedural documentation, working with current information and search systems of law enforcement agencies, mastering methodologies of criminal analysis, profiling, and constructing facial composites of suspects, among others.
Of particular interest to students is the extensive collection of short- and long-barreled firearms and melee weapons, as well as special equipment used in the educational process for weapons studies, forensic ballistics, explosive engineering, and tactical-special and firearms training for law enforcement officers.
Practical staff from the National Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, forensic and medical institutions are actively involved in conducting classes at the Forensic Hub. They have highly appreciated the capabilities and prospects of using the available material and technical resources in the educational process to train law enforcement officers. Such an opening may also stimulate research activities in the field of forensics, promoting cooperation with law enforcement agencies and other scientific institutions.
We hope that the most modern Forensic Hub in Ukraine will undoubtedly become a center of innovative research, education, and practical experience, contributing to the development of both students and professionals in the field of law enforcement!
