FORMS OF WORK AND BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATION OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT CENTER
Individual counseling of students, teachers, and staff.During psychological counseling, the problem is identified, ways to solve it are determined, new models of behavior are formed, and the person receives psychological support and emotional balance. A consultation usually lasts 50–60 minutes. If further individual counseling is required, meetings are organized weekly, twice a week, or at another interval as needed. The time of the first meeting can be arranged by e-mail, phone, or during a personal meeting with a psychologist. The practical psychologist adheres to professional ethical standards regarding the confidentiality of information.
Online counseling. You may also ask psychologists questions and receive answers by e-mail: ten.rku%40ygolohysp_ugm
Psychological diagnostics (individual and group).Psychodiagnostic work involves the use of various methods, tests, and questionnaires to identify individual characteristics, interpersonal relationships, intellectual abilities, etc.
Psychoprophylactic work among students — activities aimed at preserving psychological health; timely prevention of deviations in interpersonal relationships, prevention of conflict situations in the educational process, prevention of drug addiction, alcoholism, and immoral lifestyles.
Educational work — clarification of relevant psychological issues, increasing the psychological culture of students and staff. This takes place during:
● meetings with student groups (for example, within the framework of curator hours),
● informational talks, lectures, and round tables on psychological issues for students, curators, teachers, and university staff.
The Psychological Support Office also has a permanent information board and its own mini-library, where anyone interested can find useful and interesting information on psychological topics.
Research activity — involves conducting psychological and socio-psychological research. Students are actively involved in this activity and have the opportunity to publish the results of their research in the form of abstracts or scientific articles; present reports at student conferences (including nationwide ones); write student research papers and participate in the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Research Works. Practical psychologists of the Center and faculty members supervise students’ research work.
Psychocorrective, educational, and psychoprophylactic work is carried out, in particular, in the form of socio-psychological trainings. Psychological trainings provide participants with the opportunity to acquire psychological knowledge and certain skills and abilities that allow them to solve intrapersonal problems, issues of interaction with others, as well as make life more effective in general and enable the use of the acquired knowledge in professional activities.
Trainings are conducted within curator hours, at the request of participants (students, representatives of student self-government, curators, teachers, university administration), as well as on the initiative of the Psychological Support Center (relevant announcements are posted on the university website and information boards). Registration for trainings is available by e-mail, phone, or during a personal meeting with a psychologist.
