Student self-government is a form of student self-organization, independent public activity, a mechanism for representing and defending their rights and, most importantly, an opportunity for students to realize their potential as open-minded, purposeful, and educated individuals.

The main tasks of student self-government bodies are:

To defend and protect the interests and rights of students;
● To represent and express the position of students;
● To assist students in solving problems related to their studies, stay at the university or dormitory;
● To inform students about upcoming events;
● To promote the creation of appropriate conditions for students' study, living, and recreation;
● To organize scientific activities and extracurricular life for students: leisure, sports events, recreation, etc.

The student self-government has the following powers:
● to resolve issues within the competence of the student self-government;
● to submit for discussion and/or voting decisions made by student councils of faculties (institutes);
● use the educational, scientific, industrial, cultural, sports, domestic, and health facilities of the university;
● be represented in the governing bodies of the International Humanitarian University;
● independently and autonomously resolve issues related to its activities.

The student government also has the following responsibilities:
● to direct its activities toward the interests of students;
● to protect the rights and interests of all university students without exception;
● strictly comply with Ukrainian legislation and the Regulations on Student Self-Government of the International Humanitarian University;
● inform university students about upcoming events;
● report to students on its activities.
